Senior Software Engineer, Applied AI and Robotics [Open Call]
‍

‍

We are looking for Senior Software Engineers to help build the next generation of autonomous robotic imaging.

This is an open call for exceptional engineers who have solved hard technical problems. You might come from machine learning, computer vision, robotics, physics, scientific computing, real-time systems, infrastructure, data systems, full-stack production software, or another deeply technical background. What matters most is that you can go deep, reason from first principles, and turn complex systems into software that works reliably in the real world.

This role is well suited to people who enjoy problems that do not fit neatly inside one discipline. At Vexev, software touches robotics, ultrasound, sensing, algorithms, clinical workflows, cloud systems, machine learning, and regulated medical device development. You do not need to be an expert in all of these areas. You will have deep experience in at least one relevant area, strong engineering judgement, and the curiosity to learn across the rest of the system.

‍

About The Role

This is a hands-on senior engineering role for people who want to work on difficult, real-world systems. You will help design, build, test, and ship software that sits at the heart of a robotic medical device.

We are looking for people who can take ambiguous technical problems, understand the physics and system constraints underneath them, and turn that understanding into robust software. You will work closely with software, hardware, clinical, quality, regulatory, and operations teams to build technology that performs outside the lab and in real clinical environments.

‍

Your Work Will Include:

  • Building production software for robotic imaging systems, clinical workflows, data platforms, infrastructure, or internal engineering tools.
  • Designing and improving systems that connect robotics, ultrasound, machine learning, computer vision, cloud software, and clinical use.
  • Taking ambiguous technical problems and turning them into clear designs, robust implementations, and well-tested releases.
  • Working closely with software, hardware, clinical, quality, regulatory, and operations teams to make sure what we build works in the real world.
  • Debugging complex issues across algorithms, robotics, data, infrastructure, user workflows, and system performance.
  • Helping raise the technical bar through code quality, architecture, documentation, testing, reviews, and thoughtful engineering judgement.
    ‍

What We're Looking For:

  • Strong software engineering fundamentals and a track record of building systems that work beyond prototypes.
  • Deep experience in at least one relevant area, such as machine learning, computer vision, robotics, infrastructure, data systems, full-stack software, real-time systems, or production software engineering.
  • Comfort working close to technical detail, whether that means architecture, algorithms, debugging, performance, data quality, infrastructure, or release risks.
  • Proven judgement around simplicity, reliability, maintainability, and when to move quickly versus when to slow down.
  • Curiosity about hard systems problems and the ability to learn across domains.
  • A pragmatic approach to product: you care about elegant engineering, but you care even more about whether the system actually works.
  • Strong communication, ownership, and the ability to work well with people across technical and non-technical teams.

‍

‍You'll Likely Have Experience With:

You do not need all of these, but deep domain expertise in any of the following would be valuable:

  • Machine learning, computer vision, medical imaging, signal processing, scientific computing, or applied AI.
  • Robotics, sensing, automation, simulation, motion control, hardware-adjacent software, or embedded systems.
  • Full-stack product development, clinical software, internal tools, workflow software, or user-facing engineering.
  • Linux, Python, C++, TypeScript, cloud platforms, containers, CI/CD, or modern software engineering practices.
  • High-reliability systems, regulated environments, medtech, healthtech, aerospace, robotics, industrial automation, or other safety-conscious domains.

‍Working at Vexev

Work that matters.
‍
We’re building the next generation of vascular imaging, helping healthcare move from reactive treatment to proactive care.

Hard problems, real-world impact.
‍
You’ll help bring together robotics, ultrasound, machine learning, and clinical insight into technology that works where it matters most.

Autonomy with ownership.
‍
You’ll be trusted with real responsibility, expected to solve meaningful problems with clear ownership and accountability for your high impact work.

Built for people who like the hard stuff.
‍
This work is hard, but that’s the point. We’re building technology that could meaningfully improve how vascular disease is detected, monitored, and managed.

A workplace without the noise.
‍
No dress code, no pointless meetings, flexible start and finish times, and a Surry Hills HQ designed for deep work, collaboration, and team lunches on the rooftop.

‍Before you go.

‍‍At Vexev, we hire people, not just skill sets. If you’re fired up about our mission and believe you could be outstanding in this role despite missing a few of the “requirements”, please apply. We value directness, clarity, and honest feedback, and we bring that same approach to hiring: every application is read by our team, never filtered by automation, and we aim to keep the process quick, human, and transparent.

We make hiring decisions based on your skills, experience, curiosity and passion. Here, we value and celebrate the diversity of perspectives, expressions and social and ethnic backgrounds. We deeply believe that these are key to creating a great place to work, and building an imaging device that is truly accessible to all.
