Why we do what we do

This is Fred.

You may not recognize him from this photo, but we keep this image up on the wall to remind us of Fred and why we do what we do. You see Fred suffers from kidney failure, and to survive he needs to have his blood filtered by a dialysis machine a few times a week.

For the dialysis machine to work, a high volume of Fred’s blood has to pass through it; Fred has had an Arteriovenous Fistula (AVF) created by his Vascular Surgeon for this purpose, so that the lines that circulate the blood can flow adequately.

Sadly, Fred is not alone.

He is one of the 500,000 patients who require dialysis in Australia and the USA alone, and one of 82 million who suffer from cardiovascular disease - the leading cause of death world-wide.

Fred and many others struggle to access the high quality vascular imaging needed for diagnosis and treatment of their conditions; unfortunately there hasn’t been much advancement in this field for quite some time. Skilled staff, who are in short supply, are still required to perform scans which output only basic data which often has to be augmented with pen and paper drawings.

This all changes with the Vexev Imaging System.

The Future of Vascular Imaging

The unique data obtained by the Vexev Imaging System is about to move the entire field of Vascular Imaging forward, by providing the physicians who care for Fred with advanced fluid dynamic data, high fidelity 3d anatomic modelling and deep learning powered augmented diagnosis assistance.

The Vexev system is designed so that Fred and all the patients like him are able to undergo safe, rapid, high fidelity vascular imaging without the need for skilled staff.

This is the start of truly exploring and understanding our vascular system. We all have one - and it needs to be monitored and maintained for us to live long healthy and functional lives.

We are a team of researchers, clinicians, engineers, technologists, and strategic thinkers.

If you like the idea of working with world renowned haemodynamic and imaging scientists, university medal winning ex formula-1 engineers and vascular surgeons to develop and refine this paradigm shift forward in vascular imaging, and don’t mind being challenged to build anything but the standard, then you probably should talk some more to us here at Vexev, the first Neotribe backed company outside the USA.

We are also backed by Blackbird VC, Australia’s leading tech investor. Hear more about our story on Blackbird’s Wild Hearts podcast.
